2 days late. Racamadour to Figac.

Slept in as much as possible in Racamadour, and we had to make sure we were dressed warm because we were going to go cave exploring. The cave was way cool. We walked down approximately 500 stairs, and once we were deep inside the cave we got onto little boats while a tour guide told us all about the cave. I can’t tell you anything he said because I don’t understand French! We got our of the boat and walked up and down exactly 294 stairs. (Thanks to Kelly for counting) We had another tour guide, but then again, I don’t know what he was saying. We got back on the boats then we had an option… go up the elevator, or walk up 568 stairs. Yep I went up the stairs! We have to work off all of those pastries!

There was a cute little café right next to the entrance of the cave. I sat next to a couple girls I didn’t know very well, and I am so glad I did. I got to know them a lot better. Some of the girls sitting by me were asking me all about Cassidy, and it made me Cassidy-sick. I miss him a lot. I had a really good conversation with the girls next to me. I hope I can become better friends with them, because they are so amazing. I am literally falling in love with every single girl on this tour. There are a couple that I am working really hard to get to know, and even talk to, but as for now I love them all so much. We had to choose between pork or duck, and I chose the duck again. It was the best duck I had had the whole trip. There were also bottles of orange juice on the table, and I'm pretty sure I drank 1 or more of an entire pitcher. I need to get rid of this darn cold asap. For desert we had a walnut pie. Oh my gosh, it was amazing. Walnuts are local in Racamadour so we have had a lot around there. I was so full, I wish I could have gotten the pie before I ate anything else.

We supposedly had a 2 hour bus ride to Figeac. Right when I started to fall asleep on the bus, it only took us like 45 minutes and we were there… So I was super groggy. We went to the Musée Champollion and got head set to tour the museum. It was SO BORING. I don’t remember one thing I heard. At one point I saw The Code of Hamurabi, I got butterflies in my stomach and had a little freak out. Then, of course I found out that it wasn’t the real thing. Such a bummer. At one point I was sitting on a stair case with my head against the pole, and I seriously fell asleep. On about number 18 I realized that I didn’t remember 1 thing the guy was saying... So I just turned it off. After that I just did my own thing and I had a lot more fun. A few girls had no idea what the Rosetta stone was, so I felt like I was a tour guide telling them the history of the Rosetta stone. I loved learning about the Rosetta stone in my art classes.

After the Champollion museum, we went and checked into our hotel. I decided to live with a girl named Hailey because I didn’t know her very well. She is such a sweet girl. We had about two hours to hang out until we went to dinner. It was nice to finally have the time to skype and e-mail our friends and families.
When we all went to dinner, Professor Lee told us we were going to have fish, except for the vegetarians. Michelle and I don’t like fish, so we asked if we could get something else as well. But he said NO! I was so confused, why not? I told him that I feel bad that he would be spending money when I won’t be eating it all. Then he said, “It’s not my money, it’s yours.” I looked at him waiting for him to say he was joking, but he totally wasn’t. So, yeah… I ate some fish. It has some sauce on it that was overpowering enough to cover up the fish taste. Honestly it wasn’t too bad at all, but that still kinda bothered me. Before the fish we got a pastry, with goat cheese, tomates and an olive spead. It was amazing! I really want to learn to like goat cheese, because I know it is used a lot in expensive cuisine.

On our way home from the restaurant we had a little bit of an issue. I was with a few other girls and the professor’s son Henry… and we got lost. I knew the whole time that we were going the wrong way, but Henry was determined that he knew where we were. After a while Henry confessed that he really didn’t know where we were. I lead the group to find our way to the river where our hotel was by. On our way, there was seriously no one else around, the town was dead. A few girls decided to lie in the street, because like I said, there were no cars coming. When they did a few guys came out and started to yell at them. Not in a mean way, I think they were drunk and just wanted to have fun. They started to follow us home, and us girls started to get a bit freaked out. We all looked over to Henry and just said, “Henry…” “Henry…” “Henry…” then he looked at us and said, “What am I supposed to do!?” Obviously he is the guy, he needed to protect us. Then he yelled out, “I’ll be the buffer, but that’s it!” We thought that was hilarious, we were all laughing so hard. Mean while the two men were still following us, but they left once we turned a corner next to our hotel. It was interesting. Finally, we were back to the hotel and got to bed as soon as we could.

-Again sorry for being late on posting my blog. I'm working hard to catch up!
